When Lazy Ad Agencies Hatch an Idea!

So German ad agency KNSK, Hamburg, couldn't find a better way to promote Men's Health magazine as being "all about men" than by showing women as unhealthy? It's not blatantly sexist, but it just feels wrong and leaves a bad taste after seeing the ads. If you're smart, you can promote the services trageting a certain sex without putting the other one down...

 

The ads were photographed by Marcel Schaar. And you have to thank creative director Tim Krink and art director Thomas Thiele for the 'genius' concept.

Barack Obama Does The ‘Single Ladies’

 

Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies’ was spoofed by everyone. Even Justin Timberlake did an SNL skit about it (wearing a leotard!). Now the song gets the presidential treatment with Barack Obama (played by Alphacat) giving it a go with new lyrics like:

 

I got hope on my lips
Blackberry on my hip
Secret service we rollin deep!

 

The video starts a bit off, but then gets rolling. I love it.

Very Cool Diesel Intimate Ads

Diesel are always creative with their use of photography in their ad campaign. Here is the new 2009 ad campaign for their underwear collection, Diesel Intimate. I love how they use retro TV sets (and some new technology screens as well) to showcase and reveal the underwear of the model instead of having the model wear it as usual.

I am so pumped up for this new Showtime TV series, ‘United States of TARA’. Written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (for Juno) and starring Oscar-nominated actress Toni Collette, it’s about a family with the mother suffering from dissociative identity (formerly known as multiple personality) disorder. Yep, the teenage kids have to deal with FOUR mothers instead of one!

Powerful 'Dar Al Amal' Abuse PSA

This is a pretty compelling  new PSA ad for Dar Al Amal (Arabic for House of Hope), a shelter for abused women. The blank stare and lifeless pose make the point clear, abused women need a place to escape from the insanity and feel human again, and donating to such places is very important to keep them running.

The ad was created by Memac Ogilvy & Mather Dubai, UAE with photography by Alex Sandwell Kliszynski, art direction by Rafael Rizuto, and copy by Dalbir Singh.

Conspiracy theories abound about the fact that this video with Taylor Momsen, who plays Jennie in Gossip Girl, is a stealth ad for Nike. And you know, I totally believe it is.
