I received today a very nice surprise in my mailbox from designer Liza Koifman of OntFront. A load of images of her 2010 spring/summer collection “Tonight is the Knight” which was presented on the last day of Amsterdam International Fashion Week. The Medieval-inspired collection is the most exciting and original collection I saw this season.
According to the press release, “’Tonight is the Knight’ is designed to catapult the bold sophistication of the valiant medieval knight into comfortable gallantry for the modern-day street cavalier. Like the black and white chess knights adorning the collection, “Tonight is the Knight” will harness you with the graceful attire to lay siege to any imposing bulwark in your life.”
Congrats to Liza Koifman and OntFront creative director Tomas Overtoom on a captivating collection.
The guys at Harvey Nichols always come up with creative and unusual ads (see their previous campaigns here). The latest creative ads come from DDB London for the Harvey Nichols summer sales with a theme of Mortal Kombat/ Street Fighter. A fight over shoes and bags! The photography is by Rick Guest, creative direction by Jeremy Craigen, art direction by Graeme Hall, copy by Hunter Somerville, and illustration by Mathieu Raynault.
Brilliant photographer Bela Borsordi did these "Fashion Faces" for online shop Yalook. Who needs models when you can create faces from the shirts, jackets, and pants you are trying to sell??? Check out the engaging videos to see them in action!
The world has turned upside down about the scandalous Rihanna pictures that allegedly show her fully exposed. But I think these photos of Rihanna’s recent red carpet fashion choices are far more interesting than the leaked naked pictures. It’s like fashion porn if you will.
First up, we have Rihanna in a futuristic metallic Louis Vuitton top with extra puffy shoulders. She wore it to the 3rd Annual DKMS Gala benefit in NYC. And as if the outfit wasn’t bold enough, she added a dramatic Noir ring that looks ready to do some serious damage.
Next, we have Rihanna in a puffy Dolce & Gabbana tux that she wore to the “Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion” Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. No deadly rings, but those shoulders are formidable enough to make anyone think twice before attacking Rihanna.
Let’s have another look at these two outfits with a bit of Miss. Kylie Minogue thrown in for good measure, shall we? Now, aren’t these pictures much more fun than those leaked naked Rihanna photos?
It’s not that often that a fashion editorial leaves me lost for words, but this new editorial by photographer Manuel Vason in the latest issue of .Cent Magazine manages to do so. See the whole editorial in a post I wrote in Trend Hunter magazine.
German underwear brand Blush Lingerie has an alternative to spending millions and trillions of dollars on a stimulus package… Just spend $99.90 on their underwear and you can get stimulation, guaranteed!
Ray-Ban has a new creative campaign out in their ongoing “Never Hide” collaboration with Cutwater ad agency. Colorize is photographed by Thomas Rusch, and the prints look as if the images were photoshopped. However, the models were painted in real life to actually look like that. See the behind the scenes image below to understand what I mean. Brilliant!

And here are two new cool video spots from Ray-Ban
Wow. Alexander McQueen has left me speechless with his Fall/Winter 2009 runway presentation during Paris Fashion Week. I don’t think I can describe the look even if I tried. The artist who did the makeup, Peter Philips, explains the look: “We were inspired by clowns, divas and Pierrot, with a bit of Joan Crawford thrown in." Make sure you check out the video at the end of the post.
Fashion designer Gareth Pugh surprised the attendees of his women’s Fall/Winter 2009 runway by presenting his collection with a video, not a real runway show. The video presentation features model Natasa Vojnovic and is created by SHOWstudio. The presentation has a sinister demonic vibe that fits perfectly with the wild Pugh creations.
Meet the adorable models in the “Super Models” editorial in Tush Magazine by photographer Philip Karlberg: Alec in Yves Saint Laurent, Milla in Donna Karan, Luca in Giorgio Armani, Nadja in Chanel and Devon in vintage Paris Mon Amour.
Cool ads for 360 degrees, a German clothing & footwear company. The idea is to use their t-shirts and shoulder bags to make your own statement. Pretty cool.
The ads were photographed by Sonja Müller for ad agency McCann Erickson, Germany, with creative directors Daniel Henning, & Thorsten Adenauer; art director: Thorsten Adenauer; copywriter Daniel Henning, and illustrator James Cruickshank.
How cool is this Harvey Nichols ad campaign? The mannequins are scared from the sales rush, because they know how crazy fashionstas can get about the sales!

Diesel are always creative with their use of photography in their ad campaign. Here is the new 2009 ad campaign for their underwear collection, Diesel Intimate. I love how they use retro TV sets (and some new technology screens as well) to showcase and reveal the underwear of the model instead of having the model wear it as usual.
