Clever Guerrilla Campaigns

Feed South Africa

I do not usually like intrusive ads, but I make an exception in this case.

The idea of putting decals showing little kids reaching out inside shopping carts is both brilliant and effective. The accompanying message is, "See how easy feeding the hungry can be?"

As we stock on luxuries and indulge ourselves, we need to remember that helping poor kids can be as easy as donating a can of food.

Top 77 iPhone Innovations

I just finished writing my first ever real SUPER GALLERY cluster at TrendHunter.com. I have written a few super galleries (a trend containing at least 5 other trends) before, but they only contained 10 or so trends

After the announcement of the new 3G iPhone, I thought it was fitting to collect all the iPhone trends that were written at Trend Hunter over the past year (1st iPhone was unleashed on June 29, 2007) in one super trend.

Little did I know that some 77 articles about this damn iPhone have been written, with 23 of them written by me during the last 4 months. This goes to show you the power and appeal of the iPhone. The super gallery has everything iPhone, from docks, cases, accessories, and applications, to ads and the hopeful "iPhone killers" by other phone companies. Enjoy...

New Photography Site

Photrade is a new free photography website that presents a new image sharing paradigm. Rather than just sharing your images, you can protect your copyrights and even make money off them if your photographs are any good.
.
You can set prices for your images, buy images from other people, and make money froms ads when your images are viewed. You can also customize your image settings as you like for specific images or for many at once.
.
I think the concept is great. Almost everyone has a digital camera these days, and you do not have to be a professional photographer to take a nice shot sometimes. So why not use it.
.
See the official demo of the system below.

Crying Men

'Crying Men' is a collection of photographic portraits of famous film actors by Sam Taylor-Wood showing what it looks like when Hollywwod men cry.

Taylor-Wood explains, "Some of the men cried before I even finished loading the camera, but others found it really difficult. People can decide for themselves which they think are the authentic tears and which they think are fake. It's about the idea of taking these big, masculine men and showing a different side."

The portraits include Tim Roth, Jude Law, Robert Downey Jr., Robin Williams, Paul Newman, Ed Harris, Benicio Del Toro, Hayden Christiansen, Ryan Gosling, Gabriel Byrne, Laurence Fishburne, Woody Harrelson, Michael Gambon, Willem Dafoe, and Kris Kristofferson.

--

UPDATE

Seeing that many people are interested in these portraits, I have added a new post with 10 more photographs.

iLove >> 3G iPhone

It is upon us! The 3G iPhone has finally been unleashed, and I think I am finally under its spell. The first generation model was simply too expensive and lacked many features. With this new model being $199 for the 8GB version ($299 for the 16GB) and having both 3G and GPS, it is a very viable and attractive choice.

I am not sure when it will be officially out here in Malaysia (where I currently live) and how much it will actually cost here (since we don't have that AT&T contract). But if its price is reasonable, this will surely be my next phone.

See the full specifications, info and new iPhone commercial here.

You Are What You Eat

This has really motivated me to consider a raw diet, at least for a short while. Read about Jason Mraz's raw food diet that he's been on since April 1st.

I have read a bit about raw diets and it has always interested me. I may not go on a strict raw food diet, but I will try to avoid processed food and try to focus on raw vegetables, nuts, and fruits. I am not really motivated by losing weight (which I need to do), but by giving my body and organs a break so they can do some "in-house keeping" rather than be consumed by digesting all the bad food we eat.

.

See the video below explaining how such a healthy diet have been proven to "cure" or at least temporary stop diabetes.

What is Up with The Fashion Industry?

Ok, so I appreciate that ads and fashion can be strange and quirky, but this whole Victoria Beckham Marc Jacobs Spring/ Summer 2008 campaign has gone too far. Instead of promoting the line and the brand, the focus has shifted into how robotic and crazy can we make Victoria look. Thank God Jacobs has seen the light and is getting normal models (you know, those people who have a career in MODELING fashion) for his next campaign.
